| February 26, 2008 | | Kiosks will provide a digital convenience center for consumers, but control and protection need to be a priority | I read a great article today about the future of kiosks (the merging of self-service and digital signage) and how they will be the digital convenience centers, enabling companies to increase their revenues, brand recognition, and customer satisfaction.
However, all those benefits won't be realized if convenience is compromised by poor availability and/or performance. In other words, kiosk manufacturers must ensure these devices are controlled and protected from any unauthorized changes. Solidcore’s S3 embedded product enforces such control -- ensuring that the kiosk software that was tested and approved for the field -- is not altered; thus protecting against any unauthorized changes and blocking any unwanted applications or executables. By using Solidcore, kiosk manufacturers minimize business risk while the system is protected against malicious or mischievous conduct. This is particularly helpful when multiple parties are providing services through a single interface that increase customer value. Solidcore S3 Embedded can provide the security and change control enforcement to realize the future growth of the self-service market. by Kim Singletary, Sales KSingletary@solidcore.com | | |
