Take an Offensive Approach to Internet Security Threats

Internet security threats require an offensive approach

Internet SecurityI read this article today highlighting the problem of predicting Internet security threats.  The common practice today is to measure a system’s risk by evaluating how many current threats are possible and the likelihood of exposure.

However a better way to look at this problem is to take an offensive approach.  You should consider everything running on the system as a possible threat and only allow the minimum (or required) executables and applications.

Solidcore, as a Microsoft Embedded Systems Gold Partner, is able to provide IT systems with this level of protection against unauthorized applications and changes.  Solidcore and Tokyo Electron Device announced a distribution agreement yesterday giving manufacturers the ability to easily secure field deployed systems that will protect their businesses.

As Lawrence M. Walsh, editor of Baseline Magazine summarizes,

".... my advice is to adopt Adidas’ new slogan: ‘Impossible is nothing.’ Your adversaries already have this saying hanging over their PCs. If we fail to be open to the possibility of the impossible attack, we’ve already lost the war."
